Every year, for as long as I can remember, animal prints are proclaimed a trend for fall. I would beg to differ and say animal prints are a classic and have long ago transcended trends. As evident in the photo above of a stunning Sophia Loren, circa 1966, wearing a tiger printed caftan I would kill for today. This fall season is no different; animal prints have once again been proclaimed important for fall. Yes there may be slight variations on the theme, for instance tiger print is currently having a moment. But don’t worry leopard you’re still very much in demand. I suggest anyone who follows fashion should make sure to have a few solid animal print pieces in your wardrobe. A shoe, bag or shirt are good pieces to start with. Though guaranteed to add some fun to your look remember a little can go a long way. I’m not a proponent of mixing animal prints, or wearing head to toe for fear of looking like Laverne, a character Cher played on the Sonny and Cher Show (which I lived for and am really going out on a limb here in dating myself).

It’s easy to add animal prints into your mix with accessories. If you’re really feeling it, a quality coat tailored in a classic shape, like a trench or balmacaan, is a worthwhile investment sure to be enjoyed for years to come. I have a leopard trench that’s over twenty years old and I still love wearing it. Here are my suggestions for great animal prints to add to your existing wardrobe now, along with some of my favorite animal runway moments from Fall 2018.
