I originally published this story in August of 2016. To my surprise the carnage continues necessitating a repost today.
It’s time to stop the senseless factory ripping, shredding and cutting of defenseless jeans.
It started innocently enough, an artfully placed hole here, a tear there on a faded pair of boyfriend jeans.
Kinda fun, kinda naughty, made you feel like a rebel with a Chanel bag and Louboutin shoe.
But what started as a fun, devil-may-care weekend look for a stylish girl…
eventually morphed into the systematic slaying
and disfiguring of our most trusted ally, the jean.
So let’s all step back, sit down and take stock. It’s time to stop the madness. Retire those ripped jeans while they still have a shred of dignity. Let them live in peace in the recesses of your closet next to the artfully paint splattered jeans of yore.
(or make them into cutoffs ;))
