With one daughter back to college and Labor Day looming my thoughts have turned to fall. I’ve never been one to buy clothes way in advance of a season, I’m more of a buy now wear now kind of person. Much in the same way I find it difficult to plan what I’ll wear the next day. I have to gauge what I’m in the mood for when the time comes. This doesn’t always make for smooth mornings and seasonal shopping can be disappointing as styles and sizes sell out.
Now that fall is nearly upon us I have a clear idea of what I hope to find. I’ve already written about my desire for the perfect high-rise flared jean (still looking) and blazer. Color palette has also been on my mind. For fall I’ll continue with dark navy and black, my go to colors for fall/winter. However this season I have a strong desire to add a healthy dose of deep red to the mix. Shoes, bags, belts, sweaters and scarves in red add an instant jolt of color. The perfect deep red lipstick is on my radar as well.
For inspiration to kick off the fall season and the hunt I’ve gathered images of deep reds, from true red to Bordeaux and plum. I favor a saturated red, with a hint of blue or brown, in cashmere, velvet, silk and leather, materials that can absorb the full richness of the color. A little red sports car and a full bodied glass of red wine is also a worthy addition to any fall look.
