Though we’re just barely out of summer in New York, boot season is officially here. In fact, while it’s still warm it’s easier to wear boots without the worry and bother of hose. The investment boots of which I speak today are knee high boots. Not ankle boots and not over the knee boots, which I’m officially not endorsing this season. Why? Because they have been out there for the last few falls and I must say that very few people I’ve seen actually carry them off successfully. One requires abnormally long, slim legs, which cut out major portions of the population, myself included. If you have not invested in over the knee boots yet I would say don’t bother. If you have and you’re rocking them, I salute you.

But I digress, now back to knee high boots for Fall 2018. Boots are an investment. Usually a quality boot will cost well over a thousand dollars. For my money, I would like my boots to faithfully serve for years to come. Although it should be said that is my expectation for all expensive purchases. I believe clothes and accessories should be for keeps, not on the fast track to the landfill. It’s more sustainable and infinitely more pleasant to wear something of quality. But a high price tag does not always equal longevity. I eschew trends in favor of subtle nuances of shape, color and materials to render the boots special yet timeless. With all that said here are my top 10 choices for investment boots this fall and beyond. Let the hunt begin.
