Fantasy and opulence are the two words that best describe the tradition of the Bergdorf Goodman holiday windows. Each year a theme is chosen and from that theme five dreamscapes are developed, each telling a different story within the theme and explored in extravagant detail. The wit, imagination and artistry require hundreds of talented people and nine months of labor to bring the windows to fruition. It’s a must see if you’re in the city and my favorite holiday spectacle.
This year’s theme is Destination Extraordinary. With the harsh reality of the current state of affairs in this country they couldn’t have come up with a better theme. We all could use an escape to a verdant fantasyland where flora, fauna and humans live in opulent harmony, what a lovely thought…
