A year ago I wrote an impassioned plea to stop the mauling of the trusty jean in Time to Stop. My wish has been granted with a healthy presence of deluxe denim on the spring runways. Tom Ford sent out three deluxe denim looks, crisp, dark and tailored to perfection. Off the runways there’s been talk of going old school with denim, meaning without any kind of wash or stretch. Denim tailors beautifully and designers are taking full advantage, topstitching, zippers and studs abound giving denim the dignity it deserves. Here are my favorite deluxe denim looks from the spring shows so far.
