I’ve always loved the somewhat off beat color combo of tomato red and baby blue. Apparently so does Victoria Beckham. Though this outfit couldn’t be simpler it’s striking because of the color mix and the perfect proportion of the slightly cropped sweater to the slim cut but not tight pants. Sleeves casually pushed up, dark glasses and clean nude sandals with undone hair emphasize the nonchalant attitude. This is a clear case of the whole being greater than the sum of its parts. Fashion recently has adopted a more is more attitude but sometimes the power of simple, understated chic is a welcome relief.

Two Véroniques
There are two Resort ‘17 collections by two women, both of whom happen to be named Véronique, that interest me. Continue reading “Two Véroniques”
Embrace the Sneaker
Sneakers, trainers, kicks, whatever you call them they are now a fashion staple and they’re here to stay. I was a late adopter of the sneaker culture but after walking around in my Supergo platforms, the equivalent to wearing two tiny mattresses on my feet, I was converted. Continue reading “Embrace the Sneaker”
The Sensuous Cardigan
I’m craving an oversized, soft and sensuous cardigan to have right now. It should be void of buttons and readily slip off the shoulder. Continue reading “The Sensuous Cardigan”
In Praise of Isabel Marant
Resort presentations are still trickling in, one that caught my attention was from French designer Isabel Marant. Continue reading “In Praise of Isabel Marant”
Swan Song
It’s official; the Valentino Fall 2016 couture collection will be the final collection Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli design as a team. As reported in an earlier post Chiuri will leave the house to become creative director of Christian Dior. Continue reading “Swan Song”
Masculine Arm Candy
I love the look of chunky masculine watches and bracelets on women especially when worn in the summer on tan arms with casual beachy attire. Continue reading “Masculine Arm Candy”
Who Wears the Big Pants?
Oversized pants to the extreme showed up on many a Resort ’17 collection. The more relaxed silhouette is very appealing to me. Though it looks great on a six-foot model I know the average height person could end up looking like a hobbit. Continue reading “Who Wears the Big Pants?”
Hermes Resort
It’s hard to believe that Resort presentations continue into July overlapping the Fall ‘17 couture shows that have started in Paris and the odd Spring ‘17 presentations that some houses are doing in a response to fast fashion. The Hermes presentation, which took place in the Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré store on July 3rd, was worth the wait. Continue reading “Hermes Resort”
Happy Fourth of July
To mark the occasion I’ve made a selection of beach themed Bruce Weber photos. Hope you’re somewhere beautiful enjoying the day with loved ones. I’m in the Outer Banks of North Carolina with my girls, extended family and friends. Enjoy! Continue reading “Happy Fourth of July”
