I do this all the time. Living in New York I do a lot of walking and I’ve learned over the years that doing the old switcheroo not only saves my feet and makes it a hell of a lot easier getting around town but it also saves my shoes which are quite an investment these days. Quelle Surprise!
The big news as of late yesterday is the apparent appointment of Maria Grazia Chiuri as artistic director of Dior. The position has been vacant since Raf Simon’s surprise exit last October. The move will put an end to the long and wildly successful creative partnership Chiuri shared with Pierpaolo Piccioli as co-creative directors at Valentino. Continue reading “Quelle Surprise!”
Suit Up
For quite some time now I’ve had my eye out for a classic, superbly cut suit. It should be in a neutral color and look as though it were a men’s suit altered for a women’s body with no extraneous details like shirred sleeve caps. Continue reading “Suit Up”
Eye On Bally
Without much noise in 2014 Pablo Coppola took over the
reins at Bally for both the women and men’s collections. Continue reading “Eye On Bally”

Happy Summer Solstice
Summer, my absolute favorite season, officially begins this evening with the longest day of the year and a rare full moon during the summer solstice. Time to celebrate!

Mid Century Killer Covers
Recently I was looking back at the covers of Bazaar and Vogue from the 40s, 50s and 60s and was struck by how fearless they were in composition and art direction. There was a reductive quality to the images and very little text. It was the message that mattered, delivered with wit and long on glamour. Collages, hands, silhouettes and heads cut off at the nose were possible then. The tides began to turn in the 60s when the model’s face became the focal point as it still is today except the models have now been usurped by celebs. It was fun while it lasted, here some of my favorites. Continue reading “Mid Century Killer Covers”
And The Winner Is…
I know I’m late out of the gate with this one but now that Resort is winding down and the Prada show on an ice floe was cancelled due to global warming (just kidding) I would like to declare Louis Vuitton the winner of the High Stakes Destination Fashion Show for Resort 2017!
