Suit Up

For quite some time now I’ve had my eye out for a classic, superbly cut suit. It should be in a neutral color and look as though it were a men’s suit altered for a women’s body with no extraneous details like shirred sleeve caps. Nothing that says this is a women’s suit except for the tailoring or higher placement of buttons. Surprisingly this has been a hard nut to crack though this Resort season I did see three possibilities that I will be looking for once the clothes hit the stores this fall.

Altuzarra 5
This Altuzarra suit is exactly what I have in mind. The cut is feminine and I love the shorter jacket and pant length. It could be a knock out evening look with a statement heel preferably in a bright color and a dangly earring. For day I’d wear a chunky heel and a crisp striped cotton shirt underneath. It looks practically seasonless, timeless and is a great addition to save you from those “I don’t know what to wear” moments.

The Australian collection Camilla and Marc’s clean white double-breasted suit caught my attention as well. I’ve been craving a white suit and love the drama of it. Though it’s not as versatile, the cut is classic enough that I would trot it out for years to come.
J sander 4
This Jil Sander suit is more masculine but packs a lot of attitude for day or night. I see reasons to have all three.
