I’ve always loved the iconic crocodile boots from Yves Saint Laurent circa 1963. The shape, decadent material and just right heel look timelessly cool. Continue reading “These Boots Are Made For Walking”
Chanel Spa at the Ritz
If you find yourself in Paris with some time to kill and a whole bunch of euros burning a hole in your pocket why don’t you take yourself on a date to the newly opened Chanel Spa at the Ritz? Continue reading “Chanel Spa at the Ritz”
Cheap Fun
Of the myriad of sunglasses I have I feel I’m missing a borderline kitsch pair of cat eyes preferably in a light color. It’s been in the back of my mind, nothing pressing, but on more than a few occasions this summer I felt that if I only had such a thing my look would be complete. Continue reading “Cheap Fun”
Cool In Jamaica
As we gear up for another string of ninety plus days I’m dreaming of the scene depicted in this photo. Taken in 1957 by Toni Frissell for Sports Illustrated at Round Hill, the Jamaican getaway of William and Babe Paley. Continue reading “Cool In Jamaica”
Still Feeling for the Skinny Scarf
I’m well aware that the skinny scarf was a big trend for Fall ’15, but as we approach Fall ’16 I find myself still feeling for the skinny scarf albeit an evolved version of last year’s straight forward strip of silk. Continue reading “Still Feeling for the Skinny Scarf”
Neighborhood Watch Tribeca
As a kid growing up in New Jersey, New York City was my shopping mecca. Luckily my mother indulged me and we clocked countless hours traipsing all over Manhattan in search of the unique. Continue reading “Neighborhood Watch Tribeca”
Now Let’s Talk About Hair
My hair has been the bane of my existence for as long as I can remember. As a child I started fighting my naturally curly (a nice word for frizzy) hair from the time self-awareness kicked in. I like to think I could have been president if not for the hours I’ve dedicated over the years to hair management. Continue reading “Now Let’s Talk About Hair”
Red and Pale Blue
I’ve always loved the somewhat off beat color combo of tomato red and baby blue. Apparently so does Victoria Beckham. Though this outfit couldn’t be simpler it’s striking because of the color mix and the perfect proportion of the slightly cropped sweater to the slim cut but not tight pants. Sleeves casually pushed up, dark glasses and clean nude sandals with undone hair emphasize the nonchalant attitude. This is a clear case of the whole being greater than the sum of its parts. Fashion recently has adopted a more is more attitude but sometimes the power of simple, understated chic is a welcome relief.
Two Véroniques
There are two Resort ‘17 collections by two women, both of whom happen to be named Véronique, that interest me. Continue reading “Two Véroniques”
Embrace the Sneaker
Sneakers, trainers, kicks, whatever you call them they are now a fashion staple and they’re here to stay. I was a late adopter of the sneaker culture but after walking around in my Supergo platforms, the equivalent to wearing two tiny mattresses on my feet, I was converted. Continue reading “Embrace the Sneaker”
