There are many trends that I bypass for just that reason, they’re trends. I don’t want to slavishly jump on every bandwagon that comes through town. That said there is something about the whole sox with heels thing that I’m finally coming around to. I know this is not news, it’s been around for several years now, but I have thus far resisted. Now that the weather is about to turn, the idea of treating my feet to an extra layer of comfort and giving my pumps a little edge is a win-win situation. Just the thought of my happy little feet sheathed in an absorbent protective layer is motivation enough. But I also like the look, it’s charming and cool at the same time and opens up many a footwear opportunity.
Now I’m thinking practically. Say I do go for it, how to do it with out feeling like Baby Jane? I am after all about to send my oldest daughter to college. Maybe if I kept it tonal, a black shoe with black socks for starters? It would appear as a bootie, I could definitely go there. Now to procure the socks, and lets get this straight, I do not spend three figures on fashion socks… oh no. Luckily I found some reasonable options posted below along with inspiration for socks and heels done with restraint. Better late than never to this party.
In conclusion a few ground rules for us ladies; Socks with heels work best with a midi length skirt or cropped pant as in the first photo. I don’t recommend going the athletic sock route, despite Gucci. While you’re at it avoid patterned or frilly socks, that’s veering into Baby Jane territory. Lastly don’t go crazy with color, best to stick to neutrals or black.
