Purely by accident I came across the unique wooden handbag collection Rocio. Browsing in the Tribeca Boutique Patron of the New, I was about to leave when I saw an array of gleaming little candy colored jewels tucked on a shelf. On closer inspection I see they’re beautifully hand crafted wooden bags. Curious about the company I did a little research on line. Rocio was founded in Scotland and launched in London in August 2006. The intention was to create timeless beautiful and functional bags that meld fashion and art. Skilled artisans construct the bags in a 19-step process using sustainable wood. Outside the bags are lacquered in either saturated color or clear showing off the grain of the wood. The inside opens to soft suede in lush colors. Every joint and seam is to perfection and the hardware is refined. Here some beauties available on Farfetch.com.
