Nili Lotan knows what she wants on her eponymous collection because it’s exactly what she wants to wear herself. This has been her guiding principle since opening her business in 2003 and has proved a successful one. Her clothes are timeless with a downtown edge and above all wearable. Seasons are somewhat fluid; a Nili Lotan piece bought seasons ago can seamlessly work with newer additions. For fall 2018 Nili Lotan showed a collection filled with the kind of pieces you know you’ll live in if you subscribe to her laid back, cool aesthetic.
Generous proportions dominated during New York Fashion week as I suspect they will in Europe. Lotan was on board with wide leg black leather trousers, roomy knits and a fabulous faux fur coat in a leopard print. On the sleek side she showed the pinstriped, double-breasted suit I’ve been dreaming of for years.
Available for spring, Nili Lotan has the best essential oversized striped cotton shirts I’ve seen. The tiger print silk shell is another smart buy. Her silk sheath is a great alternative to a slip dress and can be dressed up or down. For day I’d wear it with a flat chunky sandal and oversized cardigan.
