Since my early twenties I’ve loved cat eye sunglasses. Put them on and instantly you’re transformed to your most glamorous self. They give you instant edge and attitude with a side of retro flair. It’s well documented that cat eye sunglasses have been ubiquitous on Instagram darlings for at least two years now. The fact that cat eyes are perhaps in the throws of a waning fashion moment does not deter me in the least. I will most certainly continue to sport them with even greater conviction. It’s when the fashion crowd has moved on and you stubbornly stick to it that the IT in question becomes your trademark. That said I’m on the hunt for new colors and variations of the old cat eye theme. Here are my picks.
The cat eye sunglasses craze traces directly back to the wildly successful collaboration between Adam Selman and the Australian eyewear brand Le Spec. The Last Lolita style (above) is still selling out, though currently available at Matches and Le Specs’ own website. Well made and reasonably priced, it’s a lot of look for the money.
The Fugitive, another product of Adam Selman for Le Spec gives retro cat eyes a futuristic make over.
I adore these Bally oversized cat eye sunglasses. Right now only the black is available on the Bally website but I’m hoping the white and garnet will come back in stock.
