In the street style wars surrounding the shows of late, model street style is winning.  Many of the usual suspects for street style photographers are missing the mark this go around. The large proportions in vogue now are tricky to get right. Add to that the abundance of color, pattern and details and the likelihood of striking the right balance is even less. So this season I’m looking to the beauties that make it happen on the runway for style inspiration.

It’s true, models have a distinct advantage, tall, slim and gorgeous but they also have a knack for melding form and function. Their hectic schedule requires freedom of movement and they have the insouciance of youth, which is always appealing.

For some, model street style has evolved into seriously chic, grown up looks.  Giedre Dukauskaite stands out, as a street style favorite lately for her balanced, no nonsense style. Check out her Instagram for daily inspiration.  And then there’s Iman, looking every bit the queen she is with a safari jacket thrown over a sequin dress at the 50thanniversary celebration for Ralph Lauren. The statement jewelry and magnificent halo of curls added up to perfection, now that’s style.
