Today is the 91st birthday of the Queen of England. She is the longest reigning British monarch (65 years) and the longest reigning queen in the history of the world. In a 1947 radio broadcast, transmitted while on tour of Africa with her family, the 21 year old princess said, “I declare before you all that my whole life, weather it be long or short, shall be devoted to your service and the service of our great imperial family to which we all belong”. She has lived up to that declaration with dignity and consistency, a rarity in the tumultuous times we live in. History I’m sure will hold her in high esteem. To celebrate the day I’ve compiled pictures that give us a glimpse into the life of this remarkable woman.
