Hat Season

When the temperature dips below freezing, as it soon will, I never go out without a hat pulled firmly down on my head. That blast of icy air on the scalp makes me feel cold all over. The problem is there are few types of winter hats that I actually like and feel good in. I’m definitely not a fedora type nor do I go for a whimsical hat, which for some reason seems to be a thing. You won’t find me sporting colorful pom poms dangling from strings or oversized Elmer Fudd fur hunting caps and any reference to animals in the form of ears is right out. Choices are limited in the hat department so I keep it kind of basic and have an arsenal of cashmere caps and berets. I wish I could find something flattering, warm and with a bit more presence, like the fantastic heavy knitted hat pictured above. Sadly I have no idea where this picture came from. I did however manage to find some dependable choices that will do the trick and will become my best friends once that cold winter wind starts blowing.
