With all the running around and preparing for the holidays I’ve been doing I decided to give myself the day off on Sunday. I plan to curl up on the couch amidst the Christmas splendor, remote firmly in one hand and a stiff eggnog in the other. Netflix currently is streaming one of my favorites, the 1954 classic White Christmas starring Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney and Vera-Ellen with music by Irving Berlin. Cornball and predictable it’s also endearing and will keep my Christmas spirit going for the final push to Christmas.
Speaking of Bing, let’s not forget the precursor to White Christmas, the 1942 movie Holiday Inn with Fred Astaire (you can stream from amazon.com). Irving Berlin composed the music including two of my holiday favorites White Christmas and Happy Holidays.
