Delpozo Does It Again

Last September I raved about the Delpozo Spring ’17 runway show in The Dream of Delpozo. Four months later Josep Font does it again with another stellar collection. It’s refreshing to see a designer who commits to an original concept and fully explores it. For spring Font was thinking about curvilinear forms emphasized with jolts of clear bright colors. Form and color are always the foundation to his collections, this time it was a tight color range of fuchsia, turquoise and orange grounded with a deep midnight blue and creamy off white. I admire Font’s commitment and discipline, honing down his ideas and message to tell a clear and concise story. He doesn’t plunder past decades or rely on last minute styling as so many do, or does he follow the pack. He’s in a class all his own. The work of this extraordinary talent should be better represented in the major magazines and on the red carpet, hopefully that will change this year.
